Dr. Toth joined the Department of Communication of the University of Maryland in the Fall of 2004. Prior to that time, she was associate dean for academic affairs, chair of the public relations department, and full professor of public relations for 14 years at the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
