Welcome

We invite you to take a virtual look at our department, our college, and our university. The Communication graduate program supports graduate study in four research areas:

Students may also focus on health and science communication as their primary interest within one of the above four research areas.

A Commitment to Excellence

Our graduate research specialties are recognized nationally and internationally:

Intercultural Communication: #5 ranked program in the 2004 NCA Doctoral Reputational Study for scholarly quality of the faculty.

Public Relations: #1 ranked program in a 1990 Marquette University study, the 1996 US News and World Report rankings of PR programs, and the 2001 Baxter ranking, Graduate Study in Public Relations.

Rhetoric & Political Culture: #7 ranked program in rhetorical communication and #8 ranked program in political communication in the NCA Doctoral Reputational Study for scholarly quality of the faculty. The department was also the #1 ranked program in political communication for the quality of change in the last five years and the #2 ranked program in rhetorical communication for this same criterion.
