COMM's Liu Receives Graduate Mentor Award

Dr. Brooke Fisher Liu wins UM's Graduate Faculty Mentor of the Year Award for 2022.

Congratulations to COMM's Brooke Fisher Liu on receiving the University of Maryland's Graduate Faculty Mentor of the Year Award for 2022. The Graduate Faculty Mentor of the Year Award recognizes faculty members who have made exceptional contributions to a student’s (or students’) graduate experience. This Award serves the dual purposes of acknowledging outstanding mentoring provided by individual faculty and of reminding the university community of the importance of mentoring to graduate studies.

For 2022, 162 students nominated 22 graduate faculty mentors for the award. The Graduate Faculty at the University of Maryland comprises over 1500 tenured/tenure-track professors, plus many distinguished Adjunct and Special members. To be one of 22 nominees and, especially, a recipient of the award, is a considerable achievement for Dr. Liu. She is the fourth COMM faculty member to receive this award in the last five years.
