Megan Fitzmaurice Receives the Ann Wylie Dissertation Fellowship

The Semester Dissertation Fellowships provide support to University of Maryland doctoral candidates who have excellent qualifications and who are in the latter stages of writing their dissertations. The fellowship is a full‐time, semester‐long fellowship and carries a stipend of $15,000, plus a candidacy Graduate School Tuition Award for the semester in which the fellowship is taken.

Irina Iles Receives the Michael J. Pelczar Award

The Michael J. Pelczar Graduate Award was established from contributions made by friends and alumni to honor a former UM Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research. The award is intended to honor excellence in graduate studies. The Michael J. Pelczar Award for Excellence in Graduate Study offers $1,000 to an outstanding University of Maryland doctoral candidate who has demonstrated excellence beyond his or her course work, and who has served at least one academic year as a teaching assistant with a commendable performance.

Sifan Xu Receives a Graduate School Summer Research Fellowship

The Graduate School Summer Research Fellowship provides support to outstanding University of Maryland doctoral students at “mid‐career,” that is, in the period approximately before, during, or after achievement of candidacy. The fellowships provide doctoral students the opportunity to concentrate fully on their own scholarly activities and research, for the duration of a summer, at a critical moment in their graduate studies.  The fellowships carry a stipend of $5,000.
