M.A. Student Terri Donofrio will receive the 2007 James L. Golden Outstanding Student Essay award at the National Communication Association convention in Chicago. The award is presented to an undergraduate student or to a graduate student who has yet to receive the M.A. degree.
Donofrio's essay is entitled "Spatial Authority and Agentic Loss: 9/11 Families' Claim to Ground Zero through 'Take Back the Memorial.'"
At the NCA convention, Donofrio will receive her award at a special panel that honors the Golden Award winning essay and the essays ranked in the "laureate" group. Ph.D. student Timothy Barney is included in the "laureate" group of essays. At that panel, Donofrio will present her essay—it is scheduled for Saturday, November 17, from 11:00-12:15.
