Update: Graduate students Rowena Briones and Doo Hee Lee receive awards at AEJMC for their poster presentations. Lee received a 2nd place award for his presentation entitled "An Extension of the Situational Theory of Publics in Political Context" and Briones received 3rd place for her poster entitled "Effective Emergency Preparedness: Applying Agenda-Building and Framing to the American Red Cross’ Communication Practice"
Department faculty members and graduate students will present research and serve in leadership roles at the 92nd annual meeting of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC), from August 4-8, 2009, in Boston, Massachusetts.
Department chair and professor Elizabeth Toth is a discussant for a "high density" panel on public relations and associate professor Linda Aldoory is the discussant for the top paper panel from the Commission on the Status of Women as well as the discussant for the top teaching papers in public relations. In addition, Toth and professor emerita Lauri Grunig are participants in a panel on "Strategies to Attract and Keep Diverse Students and Faculty."
New department assistant professor Brooke Fisher Liu is the discussant for a panel on global public relations and a co-author of "Three Peas in a Pod?: Toward a Theory that Guides Effective Public Relations Practices via the Three Sectors" as well as "Expanding the Government Communication Decision Wheel with Four Levels of Government" with UM graduate student Abbey Levenshus.
