Department M.A. student Rowena Briones has received a Student of Color Travel Grant from the National Communication Association to attend the 2009 NCA Convention in Chicago.

Briones was one of 16 recipients of the grant, and committee chair Alberto Gonzalez noted to Briones that "Your activities at the conventionare impressive and the recommendations from your departments speak to the quality of your contributions. We had an overwhelming number of applications and yours stood out among them."
