Smith Receives IPR Ketchum Award

SmithPh.D. student Brian Smith has been selected to receive the Institute for Public Relations Ketchum Excellence in PR Research Award for 2007. The Award seeks to "promote, foster and assist in the development of new research methods in public relations, focusing specific attention on measuring public relations effectiveness."

IPR LogoAs part of the Ketchum Award, Smith received funding for an eight-week internship with Ketchum Public Relations in New York City. There, he worked with the Ketchum Global Research Network on a variety of assignments. The Award also provides funding to perform research on a "project relating to public relations measurement and evaluation."

Smith is the third UM student in the last nine years to receive the Ketchum Award. Previous UM winners include Yunna Rhee in 2003 and Flora Hung in 2001.
