Professor Shawn J. Parry-Giles has accepted an invitation to participate in a seminar on women & political leadership sponsored by the James MacGregor Burns Academy of Leadership at the University of Maryland.
Parry-Giles will join fifteen scholars and experts in a discussion moderated by Pulitzer Prize winning author James MacGregor Burns. A portion of the group's discussion will be open to the public on Wednesday, April 23, from 12 noon - 3 pm in 1126 Taliaferro Hall on the UM campus.
Parry-Giles is completing a book on the media coverage of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. Her analysis includes coverage of Clinton while first lady, as a senator, and as a presidential candidate. Parry-Giles has presented her research on Clinton at numerous national conferences and most recently as an invited lecturer at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and as part of the Rhetorical Leadership program at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
