Associate professor Dale Hample has received the Gerald R. Miller Book Award, presented by the Interpersonal Communication Division of the National Communication Association for the best book published in interpersonal communication.
Hample will receive his award at the annual NCA convention, held in November, in Chicago.
The winning book, Arguing: Exchanging Reasons Face to Face, published in 2005, describes the process and products of face-to-face argument and focuses primarily on argument production. The book also explores the rhetorical and philosophical traditions of arguing, keeping as the volume's main focus the integration of arguing into the literatures on message production, conflict management, and interpersonal communication.
