Associate professor Trevor Parry-Giles has been notified that his book, The Character of Justice: Rhetoric, Law, & Politics in the Supreme Court Confirmation Process has received the 2007 Diamond Anniversary Book Award from the National Communication Association. The award is presented to "the most outstanding scholarly book published during the last two years."
In addition, Parry-Giles's book will receive the Kohrs-Campbell Prize in Rhetorical Criticism at the NCA convention in Chicago and the Marie Hochmuth Nichols Award from the Public Address Division of NCA.
The $10,000 Kohrs-Campbell Prize in Rhetorical Criticism at Michigan State University is one of the largest awards ever established to sustain and advance the study of rhetoric in American higher education. This biannual prize is for a book-length manuscript published through the Michigan State University Press.
The Kohrs-Campbell Prize was created through the generosity of Karlyn Kohrs Campbell and the late Paul Newell Campbell, for the encouragement of original research and scholarship of the highest quality in the field of rhetorical criticism.
The Character of Justice was published in 2006 as part of the Rhetoric & Public Affairs series from Michigan State University Press.
