Department Faculty Members Offer Election Expertise


Several Department of Communication faculty members were consulted by media outlets for expertise about the 2008 political campaigns. The historic 2008 presidential campaign featured news media appearances and quotations by Kathleen Kendall, James Klumpp, Shawn J. Parry-Giles, and Trevor Parry-Giles.

AFPMcClatchyJames Klumpp was quoted in a McClatchy News Service article on Michelle Obama and her claim about being proud of her country. Kathleen Kendall was quoted widely, notably by the Agence France Presse (AFP) international news service on the presidential debates and about Sarah Palin's campaign.

Kathy Kendall on NBC4Kendall also appeared on the PBS Newshour with Jim Lehrer to discuss the performance by Senators McCain and Obama in the presidential debates. And Kendall was featured as a guest commentary on the Washington DC NBC affiliate, NBC4.

 

 

APVOAShawn J. Parry-Giles was featured in an article in the Baltimore Sun. In addition, Parry-Giles was quoted in articles by the National Post of Canada on Hillary Clinton's campaign, the AFP on Barack Obama, in an Associated Press story about negative advertising, and by the AFP on Sarah Palin.

C-SPAN Trevor Parry-Giles was quoted in articles by the Associated Press about the North Carolina Senate campaign and the Montreal Gazette and the U.K. Observer about the Clinton campaign. Additionally, Parry-Giles appeared on C-SPAN's Washington Journal program to discuss the 30 minute advertisement run by the Obama campaign the week before the election.
