Departmental News
Ph.D. student M. Karen Walker has
accepted a Franklin Fellows appointment to the Department of State’s Global Partnership Center. The Franklin Fellows Program develops the executive potential of academics and private sector professionals through public service to the Department. The Global Partnership Center advances the State Department’s policy, program and operational goals by combining Departmental capabilities with the private sector’s resources, expertise and creative culture.
Ms. Walker’s appointment supports her dissertation research, which will develop case studies of public private partnerships from a rhetorical perspective. During her year-long appointment, Ms. Walker will craft outreach and communication strategies for the Global Partnership Center; expand the Center’s relationships with businesses, non-governmental organizations, academic institutions and the interagency community; inform training programs; and offer guidance and recommendations for the Center’s strategic planning processes.
