Boudewyns-Paquin Receives ICA Travel Grant

Vanessa B-PPh.D. student Vanessa Boudewyns-Paquin has recently been notified that she is a recipient of a travel grant from the Health Communication Division of the International Communication Association to subsidize travel to the 2009 ICA Convention in Chicago.

Boudewyns-Paquin's paper is entitled "The Beliefs Behind the Behavior: Using Theory to Understand College Students' STD-Testing Intentions." The awards are based on rankings and applications for student submitted papers to the Health Communication Division. Boudewyns-Paquin joins students from USC, the University of Minnesota, UCSB, and George Mason University in receiving this recognition.

ICAThe ICA Health Communication Division is committed to excellence in research on the development of theory as well as the application of theory to communication in health promotion and health care. The division has 520 members from 34 countries, representing more than 169 institutions. Areas of research include provider-patient interaction, social support networks, health information systems, medical ethics, health policy and health campaigns.
